Arts Education Manager

COLISEUM OPERATIONS
Function
The purpose of the class is to lead a team in the conception, development, and implementation of the youth artistic vision and focus of the Hampton Coliseum/Hampton Arts Department. The class works under general supervision according to set procedures. May supervise others.
Minimum Requirements:
Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree in Arts Education, Arts Administration, Public Administration, Fine Arts, Business Administration or a related field and a minimum of three (3) years of full-time equivalent experience in a performing arts theatre or visual arts facility, management of community programs, services, or other arts related programs.
Two (2) years supervisory experience is required.
May require some travel.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driving record based on the City of Hampton’s criteria.
This position is safety sensitive and is subject to testing for alcohol and controlled substances in accordance with the City’s current substance abuse policy.
Must successfully pass a background check related to this position prior to any offer of employment or promotion.
Additional Requirements
Requires effective communication with internal and external customers.
May require working non-standard hours including evenings, holidays, and weekends.
The incumbent may be considered “essential personnel” during City emergency situations or at the direction of the City Manager which may include long hours and unusual schedules.
